✨ Extra Magic Time at Disneyland Paris: Is It Worth It in 2026? ✨

Extra Magic Time at Disneyland Paris guide

Extra Magic Time at Disneyland Paris can be one of the best perks of staying on site… or a total waste if you use it badly.

This guide explains who gets Extra Magic Time, what time it starts, which rides are usually open, and whether it is actually worth paying extra for. Used properly, it can save you a surprising amount of queueing. Used badly, it just means you had breakfast earlier for no reason.

⏰ Quick Answer: Extra Magic Time at Disneyland Parisβœ”οΈ Usually gives eligible guests 1 hour of early entry
βœ”οΈ Commonly runs from 8:30am to 9:30am
βœ”οΈ Available to guests staying in a Disney Hotel and Disneyland Pass Gold holders
βœ”οΈ Best used for big rides, low-crowd photos and early character meets

πŸ’‘ Disney notes that the duration and parks available can vary by date, so always check the app close to your visit.

🎟️ Who Gets Extra Magic Time?

You can usually use Extra Magic Time if you are:

Disney states that eligible guests can access the parks before official opening, but the exact duration and which parks are included can vary depending on the date. In practice, it is often 8:30am to 9:30am. Staying in a Disney Hotel is the most common way families get this perk.

πŸ’‘ Worth knowing: if you are comparing hotel prices, this perk is one of the biggest reasons some people choose to stay onsite.

πŸ€” Is Extra Magic Time Worth It?

Yes β€” if you actually use it properly.

Extra Magic Time is worth it most when:

  • You want to do headliner rides before the main crowds arrive
  • You are visiting on busier dates from the crowd calendar
  • You are staying for a short trip and want to squeeze more into each morning
  • You want castle photos or character meets with lower queues

It is less valuable if:

  • You struggle to get moving in the morning
  • You plan long hotel breakfasts every day
  • You are paying a lot more for a hotel purely for this perk and will barely use it

Billy’s honest take: Extra Magic Time is brilliant for people who rope drop properly. If you turn up half asleep at 9:05 and start browsing snacks, you have basically paid extra for a brisk walk.

πŸ•°οΈ What Time Is Extra Magic Time?

On current official Disneyland Paris opening-hours pages, Extra Magic Time is shown as 8:30am to 9:30am on eligible dates, before regular park opening at 9:30am. That said, Disney also says the duration and available parks may vary depending on the date, so always check close to your trip. Pair this with the Opening Hours Guide so you know exactly what kind of day you are working with.

🎒 What Rides Are Usually Open During Extra Magic Time?

Ride availability can change, especially with refurbs, seasonal operations and park changes, so think of this as the usual pattern, not a legally binding blood oath from Mickey.

🏰 Disneyland Park

Some Fantasyland rides can open a little later into the hour, so it is worth watching the app rather than assuming everything is running from the second you get in.

🎬 Disney Adventure World

With Disney Adventure World now the updated park name, this is the park where EMT can make a huge difference on headliners like Crush’s Coaster, especially on busier dates.

🧭 Best Extra Magic Time Strategy

  1. Get there early. Aim to be at security around 8:00am to 8:15am, not strolling up at 8:29 like you are entering a garden centre.
  2. Pick one park and commit. Do not waste EMT hopping mentally between options.
  3. Go straight to the big rides. This is not the time for shopping, slow wandering or debating croissants.
  4. Check the app close to your trip. Ride availability during EMT can vary.
  5. Use the first hour for what usually gets nasty later. Think Crush’s Coaster, Peter Pan or Hyperspace Mountain.
πŸ’‘ Golden rule: Extra Magic Time works best when you combine it with a proper ride plan. One without the other is like buying trainers and then crawling the marathon.

Park Suggested EMT Order
Disney Adventure World Crush’s Coaster β†’ Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure β†’ Tower of Terror β†’ Ratatouille
Disneyland Park Hyperspace Mountain β†’ Buzz Lightyear β†’ Peter Pan β†’ Dumbo β†’ Orbitron

πŸ’‘ Tip: If you are buying Premier Access, use Extra Magic Time on attractions not covered well by your plan, or on rides where you want to avoid using paid queue-skipping altogether.

🍽️ What About Breakfast?

Simple answer: do not let breakfast ruin your advantage.

  • Hotel breakfast before EMT can work well if you are organised
  • If not, grab something quick after you have done your priority rides
  • Most table-service options are not your friend during this early window

Good backup options include Starbucks, Earl of Sandwich, McDonald’s in Disney Village, or something quick later in the park like Cookie Kitchen.

πŸ› οΈ Last-Minute Checks Before You Go

  • Bring the correct entry media for your booking or pass
  • Check the app the night before for park hours and ride availability
  • Use the closures guide so you do not build a morning around a ride that is shut
  • Check the opening hours guide so you know the full shape of the day

🏨 Want Extra Magic Time?

The easiest way to get it is by staying in a Disney Hotel. Compare current prices and see whether the early-entry perk is worth it for your dates.

βœ… Final Verdict: Is Extra Magic Time a Big Deal?

  • Yes, if you use it for headliner rides and get there early
  • Yes, if you are visiting on busy dates and want to cut queue time
  • Less so if you never make it out the hotel room before half nine

For a lot of families, Extra Magic Time is one of the best perks of staying onsite. It can help you get ahead before the crowds build, make short trips more efficient, and reduce the temptation to spend extra on paid queue-skipping later. Just do not waste it on dawdling, breakfast indecision, or suspiciously long toilet stops.

  1. Hi there,
Is EMT also available for use with discounted friends and family tickets bought on the day by an annual pass holder?
    Cheers!

    • Hi Kez,

If you have a Magic Plus or Infinity pass & are buying discounted friends/family ticket then YES you will all gain access to EMT & also all be permitted through the VIP entrance at the turnstiles.

      Kind Regards.

  2. Hi I have 3 disabled children I would love to come to Disneyland Paris been concerned about the cast as we would need to stay in one of your hotels and then with the mission to the parks on top and wondering if there any deal available for November 2018

    • Hi Carol,

We don’t have access to deals on this site. You would be better talking to one of the live help agents on the disneylandParis.com website. They will talk you through everything to put your mind at ease. A quick note though that each of your disabled children will be entitled to take in a free carer each every day so that will save on ticket prices.

      Kind Regards
      Billy

  3. Hi there me and my daughter are going to DLP in July I will be getting a magic plus annual card and was going to get her a annual card but a flexi magic as she is only 4 would she be able to come in to extra magic hours with me as a guest etc?

    • Hi Michelle,

I’m afraid only the infinity holder would gain extra magic time unless you were staying onsite in a Disney hotel. There have been instances where Cast Members have allowed people through with the Infinity holder but these are exceptional & shouldn’t be relied upon.

      Kind regards
      Billy
